Tomorrow, I head out to PAX Prime in my old stomping grounds of Seattle, WA. It’s going to be the first time I’ve been able to attend PAX and I’m really looking forward to taking it all in as well as showing off Castle Panic.
For those of you not familiar with it, PAX is the Penny Arcade Expo. It’s a huge convention oriented around all things gaming. PAX was started by the creators of the Penny Arcade web comic (a long-time favorite of mine) as a way to get fans of the website together for a big weekend of playing games together. Then it exploded. Now it’s one of the largest gaming conventions in the U.S. with over 60,000 attendees. It’s not just video games though. It’s expanded to include card games, board games, and anything related to game culture. It’s been described as Disneyland for geeks, and I can’t wait.
Fireside Games doesn’t officially have a presence at PAX this year. However, thanks to an arrangement with my good friends at Steve Jackson Games I’ll be there running demos and giving away goodies in the evening. If you’re going to be at the show, you can find me on Level 2 (where all the Table Top gaming is) among the free play tables. Look for the beckoning Troll Mage on the Official “Come Play Castle Panic” Table Tent.
Saturday night will be the best night to get some serious Castle defending in, so come by, say hi, and let’s see how you can stand up to the horde. If you’ve played before, variant games will be encouraged, so come by to try out an Overlord game or play with one of the many alternate rules!
See you there!
