Castle Panic has received a lot of really good reviews. So many in fact, that I’m going to have to redesign the “Reviews” section of the page to get them all to fit better. But that’s my problem and it’s not why I’m writing this. No, instead our latest review raises a common question that gets asked about the back story to our game. “If you knew the forest was full of Monsters, (like it says right on the back of the box) why did you build your Castle right in the middle?”
The answer is of course that it wouldn’t be a very exciting game if you built your fortress somewhere safe and sound.
“Hey, who wants to play a game of Castle Humdrum! You get to clean the stables and tote water up flights of stairs, and then you do laundry!”
Note: There’s probably a Eurogame out there with a huge following that does exactly that, so my apologies to all those fans.
My snarky comments aside, Ken and Jason over at “2 Guys and Some Cardboard” have posted a video review of Castle Panic. Now, the review is pretty good, but really it’s the “Dramatic Reenactment” part that starts about 50 seconds in that truly gets to the heart of the matter.
Now I want a Mocha Frappucino.
